Counselors
What does a prison counselor do? How corrections counselors help new inmates adjust, explain the rules, manage case files, and handle requests such as jobs and housing.
From the guide
The corrections counselor is one of the first people to introduce an inmate to institutionalization. Not long after arriving to a facility you will be called to see an intake counselor.
An intake counselor will advise you of your rights, privileges, responsibilities, and expected behavior. They will provide you with an inmate handbook which explains many of the rules, regulations, processes, and procedures which you will encounter during your incarceration experience.
