Probation is a court-ordered disposition alternative through which a convicted adult offender, or an adjudicated delinquent, is placed under the control, supervision, and care of a probation field staff member. Adjudication is the process by which a court arrives at a decision regarding a case. Offenders must have the terms and conditions of the agreement explained to them, and must sign and receive a copy acknowledging this understanding.
